Fancy owning the domain name Ethereum.com? Better start counting the pennies.
According to Bloomberg, the high-value domain has now been listed for sale on the Uniregistry marketplace for "around $10 million."
Commenting on the news, domain capitalist Ammar Kubba told the news supply that cryptocurrency is that the "biggest trend" within the domain trade, which connected domains have big in price "much much faster than other names."
Kubba additional that, simply some months past, he paid $800 for the InsideCoins.com domain, which it had already tripled in price.
Ron Jackson, editor and publisher of name Journal, told Bloomberg that the recent "unfettered euphoria" around cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, is similar to the period just before the dot-com crash that occurred around 2001.
The $10 million damage for Ethereum.com, if it's achieved, can place alternative domain sales this year within the shade.
Last month, a website name capitalist, Sharjil Saleem, closed a $2 million sale of ETH.com, consistent with name Journal. According to the location, that figure makes it the second most respected domain sale thus far in 2017, swing it just under Fly.com, that sold for $2.89 million in May.
Back in 2014, the name BitcoinWallet.com was sold to AN Austin-based enterpriser, Alex Charfen, for $250,000.
